Tips - RV Holding Tank ServicesRV Holding Tank Services

Never dump your tanks below 2/3 – 3/4 full. Remember, water flow is friction, and friction is what cleans tanks. The more water in and out of the tank, the cleaner your tank will be.

*After dumping your black tank, always add water back to your tank before you use.  You need to add to the first sensor (which is a couple inches from bottom of tank) which will cover the bottom of tank and keep everything suspended.  Remember it is a tank so all liquids run towards the outlet and if there isn’t enough water the solids builds up.

Many free dump stations are closing due to chemicals in holding tanks that are harmful to septic systems. To keep these dump stations open, it is imperative that septic safe chemicals (no formaldehyde) are used!

Never leave your black tank valve open at a campground or anywhere else. Your black water tank will not drain directly into the septic system and will create buildup.

Over time oil and residue builds up in the gray tank causing a foul odor. The buildup also affects the valve and tank assembly. Annual high pressure flushing by RV Holding Tank Services will end this problem for you.

Carry an extra garden hose to use for rinsing in case the dump station doesn’t have one. Store this in an area where it won’t come into contact with your drinking water hose.
